Scholarship Presentation
Makayla had the honor of presenting as a Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Finalist. Of the 14 that were chosen as finalists out of the state of Iowa, Makayla was also one of the three that won. This resulted in an additional $10,000 scholarship to the original $1,500 for being a finalist.

Although preparing for this presentation took time away from focusing on the project, it allowed Makayla to compile all of the accomplishments, tasks, and setbacks of this project into a timeline. After presentation day, Makayla returned to working diligently on the compost system again.
